  Book Review

CARRY ON JEEVES - BY P.G. WODEHOUSE

'Carry on Jeeves' is an episode wise collection of stories by P.G. Wodehouse. This book is one of the 'Jeeves and Wooster collection'. In this book, each chapter deals with a different story. The two main characters of the book are Bertie Wooster and Reginald Jeeves.Reginald Jeeves throughout the book is called as 'Jeeves'.Story is such that Jeeves is Bertie's valet and in each chapter , Jeeves is shown helping others with his intelligence. The book  has ten chapters in all with Bertie ,as the narrator for the first nine chapters and Jeeves ,for tenth.
Bertie Wooster is an englishman living with his valet ,Jeeves.Jeeves is a highly intelligent personality who believes in loyalty towards his master.Bertie is shown to be dependent on Jeeves for all his problems. Whatever be the problem ,it cannot escape from Jeeves' solution. At many instants of time ,Jeeves is shown helping Bertie and his friends.
The book starts on the note taking for granted as if the reader is aware of the situation .After having look at the first fifteen pages, you come to know- who is Bertie and who is Jeeves. In the rest of the part, as a new character is added, say for example-Bertie's friend. The narrator has properly described him,so as the reader reads, he/she understands that how close is he to him and so on.
About the characters ,it is seen that Bertie is one of the jolly ones living his life great. Bertie has a helping nature and is shown helping his friends at many instants.Well ,some part of it is true that he knew whatever may be the problem , it cannot pertain under Jeeves' guidance.About Jeeves, he is a very calm personality. He takes care of Bertie as if he being a kid. He considers Bertie's problems as his problems. At some point ,Bertie also says that if had half the brain ,Jeeves is having ,he would have been the president of the country!
About the vocabulary ,some part of  the conversation is difficult to digest .The author,in the book, has used very sophisticated words, to sometimes describe a person or a situation. For example, one of the phrases you see is 'by Jove'.This phrase has different meanings at different instants. But, in any case ,meaning can be configured. In the book ,Jeeves is many-a-times shown referring to a person by 'His Grace'. Generally, the term is used to describe to describe a person of high post.
The book is funny at some parts ,but compiling everything ,it is a mixture of thrill ,suspense and  humourous upto some extent.Well ,these features are the ones which increases the fun in any fictitious book.A perfect book for a fiction-loving person!!
